Welcome to our Year 5 homepage!
In Year 5, we have seven different topics, which we study throughout the year and alongside each topic we get to go on some excellent trips. We begin the year with our whole school projects, this year it was The Maker and the Invictus Games and we were lucky enough to have Alex Krol, an Invictus athlete, come and tell us his story and why the Invictus Games is so important.
Then we travel into Space and learn all about the world around us and we even get to meet Yuri Gagurin, the first man to go into space. When we land back on Earth, we explore all the different terrains we have here on Earth and work out where we might find different mini-beasts.
Things get even more creepy at the end of the Spring term and we start learning about the Black Death and life in the Middle Ages. We even go to the first ever death pit in London and see a real skeleton of someone from the 14th century who has been excavated. Luckily, it doesn't get any more scary than that and our next Topic is fantasy worlds, where we design our own fantasy world and create maps for it. At the end of the year, we delve into Ancient Egypt and find out all about the mummification process amongst other things. Along this journey, we get to work with the Bach Choir, have excellent workshops, go swimming and learn all about a healthy lifestyle with QPR!
