Year 6 study Shakespeare with IntoUniversity
During the Spring term, Year Six spent a week with a highly enthusiastic team from the charity ‘IntoUniversity’ (who tackle social and economic extremes by providing innovative programmes to support, encourage and inspire young people) to study the work of William Shakespeare. We had to research information about Shakespeare, his plays and life in Edwardian London, creating detailed posters, presentations and performances about our chosen plays such as Richard III and Hamlet. We attended various workshops and trips including a hip-hop workshop with voice actor Oliver Mason, which combined Shakespeare with rap, a tour of the Globe Theatre, including a rare opportunity to ‘tread the boards’ on the famous stage, and a workshop with some of the RSC actors. Finally we went to Birkbeck, University of London, to graduate.
